Spend Less Get More

Hello friends, I have been stamping my little fingers to the bone these last few days. I want to get far enough a head so I can post more cards, I'll see how that goes. I went to Michaels the other day looking for some new supply's mostly paper for my Christmas cards. There was not a lot to chose from but I all most fell over when I saw the prices one single sheet of 12x12 paper was .79 cents I thought that was high. I don't want to have $5.00 in one card. So I came home on a mission to learn how to get the most from what I have. Explicitly all these dies, I feel my cards are getting kind of same old same old thing. Stamp, mat, layer.

I think I may need to explain something,  I'm not cheep if I see something I want to craft with I have always  bought it or gotten it as a gift. But last fall my dad had a heart attack he is 93 and living with us. I quit my job to take care of him. This has been a whole new experiences taking card of a elderly parent.

Back to the crafting thing for my card today I used cheep Georgia Pacific white paper and a really ugly green.

I start with a sheet of 8.5 x 11 G.P. white card stock cut in half  scored and folded at 4.25. Then I used the Largest die in the Matting Basic A, I kept the fold inside the cutting edge and ran it though the machine then I used the embossing mats this made a very nice edge on the card. Then using a smaller die from the B set I cut a white mat and embossed that one to. This extra step really makes a world of differences. I used another die to cut the green mat. Back to the white mat I took it out of the die and rubbed Perfect medium a round the edge that will be showing then added some Perfect Pearls in Perfect pearl. I have had this stuff a long time and just quit using because it fell out of style. For the green layer I rubbed the Perfect Medium over the recessed side of a embossing folder closed it up and ran it through the machine. Then I added a little Gold Perfect Pearls this really made a difference to the ugly green paper. For the buckle across the front I used the GP paper and the three smalls dies from the Floral Ovals. I rubbed the Perfect Medium  over the frames and added a little Perfect Pearls. It gives them the look of a pearl paper.  The strip across the center is half inch wide I gold embossed the DRS designs Happy Birthday and wove through  the ovals. The bows are made from seam Binding. I think this is the best investment I have ever made from a consumable craft supply. There is 100 yards on this roll and the price sticker is 14.99 I have had this for several years and still have a lot left on the roll. You can die it any color. I have used my Copic reinkers, markers, stamp pads and they all work great.

Well that is my cheep card. I hope I have given you some ideals on how to save a little but still get pretty cards.

Have a wonderful day,

Janett

Snapdragon Birthday

Good morning, I hope you are having a great weekend. We have been having some beautiful day's in between all the rain. It's been a good time get started on some of the outside spring jobs, but the rain gives me plenty of time to stamp.

To day a I have a Gate Fold  Card that will be great for a girl.

I started by cutting two 6 inch white squares and one 6 X 7 inch square. On the 6 x 7 inch piece along the 7 inch side score 1/2 inch on both ends. Use your Borerabilities  to cut the center. Tape or glue the 1/2 inch scored flaps to one of the 6 inch squares. Attach the other square that I dry embossed to the center to cover the flaps. I cut a pink square and stamped with the Checkerboard background with Versamark and clear embossing powder. Using a stamp positioner I stamp it again with the Versamark ink then pored  pink glitter
on top and heat set. The Snapdragon Diamond was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with Copic markers.

I used a glue pen and went over the outline and some of the petals and added pink glitter. This was layered on to a white die cut with foam squares half pearls were added at the corners.

The Small Script Happy Birthday was stamped with Memento Coco ink and die cut, with the glue pen I added a line and  pink glitter and  half pearls.

On the inside I used the Birthday Wishes Greeting and the coco ink.

Just a reminder the challenge this week is a color challenge and a great chance to win some new stamps.

Have a wonderful day,

Janett

Buyer Beware

Today I wanted to talk to you about were you buy your stamping supply's, if your like me there are not any brick and mortar stamp stores close by, the closes thing I have is a small Michaels craft store. I very grateful to have but you can't get a lot of supply's. So I turn to the internet I always try to research any company before I order from them. I like to see what other stampers are saying about company's before I order from them. I have had a lot for good luck. DRS designs has always been quick to get your order out. And for my Copic I always turn to Oozak on there web site it will tell you if it is in stock they send emails every step of the way and get your order out in a few days. I like dealing with Amazon if you have any problems with anyone selling from there site they have your back. I have had good results with them.

Then there are the not so reputable company's. Before Christmas I order a stamp from Lalaland Stamps there were no emails I had given up on ever getting my order when to my surprise it turned up at the end of January. Two months to get one stamp is unexceptional and know explanation as to why. If a company does not have the product they are selling there should not take the money from your account. This leads me to my latest ordeal I placed a small order from Simon Says Stamps after a month of checking on my order and it saying processing I sent them a email that said to send my order or return my money, I got a quick responses that said how sorry they were and they would call the ware house and send my order out. I still don't have the order or my money.

I was telling my husband about this he said that I needed a Pappal account just for times like these if you don't get your order they will intercede on your behalf and get your stuff or your money. I will never order from a company that does not take Paypal. And I wont  choose a company because a artist that I admire uses there products. There are some good internet company's but there are some bad ones. Buyer beware.

Let me know of your online ordering experiences, do you have a favorite company or a tale of woe. I would love to here from you.

Have a wonderful day,

Janett

Sunny Daffodils

Hi, today is a beautiful day with blue sky's and the sun is shining. Spring is on it's way, and it wont be to soon for me. I'm so ready to be outside and to start working in the garden.

For my card I used the Daffodil Frame. It was colored with Copic markers. I used a x acto knife to cut around some of the petals then fussy cut the image. I placed foam tape behind the cut outs then glued it to the card. I'm still unsure about the purple it may be to dark for this spring image.

This is a close up so you can see the popped up parts.

A little bit of sunshine to brighten you day.

Button Challenge

Spring is so near the birds were singing this morning and the first of the daffodils have bloomed little spots of sunshine on a other wise gray morning. I am so ready for the warmth of spring and to start working in the garden.

Today the new challenge at DRS designs is buttons. This is a easy one, I hope all of you will join us.

I chose to make a very simple card for this challenge. I stamped the Irish Inventory with Memento Hunter Green then layered it with yellow and green card stock. For the printed background paper I used watercolor paper and the Celtic Knot that I embossed with white embossing powder. Thin using different shades of green and yellow I covered the paper. I was so happy the the final results I hated how much was covered. Adding another layer of green then a yellow card. To finish the card I added three buttons with yellow embroidery floss that I tied in knots.

Please join us in the easy challenge.

Have a wonderful day,

Easter Sleepover

Hi all, this has been some week, it has snowed more this week than it has in years we had a inch of snow in half a hour. It was just beautiful.

For my card today I made a Floating pop up card.

To start I cut two, 5.5 x 4.25 Lt. blue cards and scored quarter inch along the 5.5 inch side add extra sticky tape to the quarter inch fold of both.

For the front of the card I stamped the Easter Sleepover and colored with Copic markers. I used the out of the box technique and a oval die. I used the Open Plaid  and Memento Cantaloupe and Sea Shall Ocean Aqua. I used a stamp positioner  to stamp the One Line Happy Easter on the tag. Then I added a punched butterfly and ribbon.

Now for the inside.

First I colored six Easter Egg with Bow and fussy cut. Using extra sticky tape stick a quarter inch wide strip of Transparency Film between two of the eggs. Put these in between the fold of the two cards. Then I added the green grass. For the white card I masked the center then stamped the plaid. After removing the mask I stamped the Abundance of Spring Greeting.  I added a extra egg to the top.
I hope You like this fun spring card.

Here are a few of our snow pictures.

Have a wonderful day,

Janett
